Powers consist of three branches. Gift of Body represents the genetic mutations Humans have adopted from the contamination of Yggdrasil. Gift of the Spirit represents a Human's chi energy and their control over it. Lastly, Gift of the Mind represents the magic Humans have discovered, harnessing the Aether flowing from Yggdrasil. Each of these gifts can also be split further into different categories.
Gift of the Body come in two forms, genetic gifts that alter one's body, or kinetic gifts that allow one control over a substance or energy with one's mind. Genetic gifts take up a single power slot, such gifts include shape-shifting, environmental adaptation, enhanced physical skills, or enhanced functions such a breath or vision. Kinetic gifts take up two power slots, one for control and the other for quantity. You may choose one weak trait and one strong trait. Kinesis control dictates how much control over an element you have while Kinesis quantity dictates how much of the element you can control at once. While a person who controls a lot of the element won't be able to do much more than throw it around, a person with high control over an element will only be able to control a designated quantity of it at once. As one overuses their genetic gifts, they drain away their body's energy-- overuse results in headaches, nose bleeds, coughing blood, fever, nausea, and can even result in death.
Gift of the Spirit, similarly, come in two forms. Chi Manipulation which allows one to harness one's chi into blasts and other external techniques, and Chi Augmentation which allows one to harness Chi inside their bodies to amplify their own natural abilities. Chi Augmentation increases all one's physical attributes, but not as much as a genetically gifted 'enhanced trait' user. Think of it more as a moderate boost to all abilities. As the battle wears on, a Chi user's will to fight diminishes as they use their powers. Overuse can leave them in a helpless state where they are emotionally drained, without the will to even raise a finger in their own defense.
Gift of the Mind come in the six schools of magic: Alteration, the school of bending the natural laws of the world; Illusion, the school of misdirection and figment; Destruction, the school of power; Restoration, the school of healing and protection; Conjuration, the school of summoning; and Enchantment, the school of enhancing items and weapons to create artifacts. Each of the schools counts as a single power and each school comes with five different levels of magic. As the spell becomes more complex and powerful, the strain it places on the caster similarly increases to even be able to successfully cast it. Overuse of magic is a very dangerous thing, where the magic overtakes the caster, entrapping them within the Aether and causing them to go into a coma. It is possible for people to recover from this, however insanity has been a common result of their experience.
